DB's January Digest ❄️

My Guide to Elegant Winter White
Firstly, a very Happy New Year! May it be a peaceful, kind and healthy one for us all.
So as we approach 12th Night and think about de-Christmassing our homes I'm always a bit forlorn to say Au Revoir to the tree. But not this year, as I'm going to elevate the bare landscape of the sitting room with the introduction of some creamy winter white ceramics to add a refreshing uplift to January and the coming months.
First up is some mantlepiece adorning. I'm adding green foliage to a selection of my Vellum budvases which really do blend seamlessly with any decor. I particularly like using green foliage at this time of year, as you can pick things from the garden without spending a fortune or give the kids an incentive on a wintry walk to forage for some greenery. I've been known to offer rewards for the best pick of the day!
I'll also be exchanging my burgundy festive tableware for a cleaner palette using my teal tablecloth, Vellum plates mixed with some teal bubble ceramics. There's something very uplifting at this time of year adding even just a fresh new tablecloth to your collection.
And of course January nights are prime candle burning hours so I'm lighting my Vellum and Verden candle as soon as the evenings draw in. It has a beautiful pine and eucalyptus scent and is made with vegetable wax and a lead-free wick so is a "cleaner" candle than lots of others on the market.
And if you're planning to de-clutter throughout your home, don't forget my Vellum flow bowls and platters are an elegant way to store jewellery in a bedroom or bathroom.
And I don't know about you, but I love an occasional sweet treat as I try to eat as healthily as I can throughout the year, and indulge when it feels right. A piece of my dark chocolate bark served on a creamy white Vellum Serving platter tastes as good as it looks.
And I couldn't resist sharing my ultimate winter white inspo which is a January Alpine walk with Winifred snug as a bug in her creamy white jumper and bandana!
A very Happy 2026 to you all !
I've spent several weeks in the mountains over Christmas and can't recommend these Penelope Chilvers Forager boots more highly. The thick rubber sole and shearling lining are both practical and luxurious.
I can't resist a Nordic Knit and The White Company do them very well. I love this Alpaca and mohair one which is also currently in the sale!
There are fondue sets and there are fondue sets. This cast iron Staub fondue set is made in France and is quite simply one of the best. We had a fondue for Christmas day this year and I love recreating this special Alpine treat in London too. I love the Staub's black design; and Harrods have a few left in the sale at the time of writing.
In this cold weather, La Roche Posay's Cicaplast Lip Baume offers more bang for your buck than any other lip soothing product out there. Hard to beat for it's 100% hypoallergenic ingredients, it repairs dry and cracked lips and prevents future chapping. Every pocket should have one!
Bamford's Pebworth Merino Wool Dog Sweater is a favourite with myself and Winifred (who is wearing it in the above pic). It's crafted from the Merino flock of sheep on the Dayelsford estate in the Cotswolds and is part of their special collection of virgin merino wool products. Designed for outdoors adventures or cosying up at home when the temperatures drop like they have done this weekend. I'd like one too!
