The Perfect Summer Table

I'm finally in my Ibizan beach house which means long lazy lunches, sultry evenings with friends and lots of laughter making summer memories. I love entertaining and creating the correct ambience is key. It mustn't be too formal, but I still like to spoil my guests with a wow factor when they step into my courtyard. Here are my 5 rules for creating the perfect summer table.

LAYER ALL YOUR BLUES - My house overlooks Es Vedra and an endless ocean vista so I naturally gravitate to using lots of blues to echo the surrounding sea.

Blues work brilliantly in summer as they can impart a feeling of the cool sea breeze which is very welcome in the Ibizan sun or wherever you are.

My tie-dye blue table linen looks particularly good in summer layered with natural straw placemats, cobalt and vellum tableware. It feels like a cool breath of fresh air.

BUD VASES ARE ESSENTIAL - Rather than a large bunch of flowers which won't last long in the heat, it's better to deploy your favourite bud vases and fill with small blooms.

My bud vases have been cleverly designed so that you only need a minimal number of stems in each vase for maximalist impact.

GIVE YOUR GUESTS ENOUGH SPACE - there's nothing worse than being too snug at a summer table! It's simply too hot! Space your guests as generously as you can and everyone will be happier.

SCENT THE AIR WITH AROMATIC CANDLES  - scenting the scene with botanical candles is a wonderful way to welcome your guests to the table.

My Sea Salt and Wild Rosemary candle was inspired by the salty air and wild rosemary which grows so abundantly near my home. It's beautiful to light on a summer's evening and has an impressive scent reach and  fills the air with its aromatic scent.

DECORATE WITH FRUIT  - adding some juicy citrus fruit to your table creates a wow factor especially if flowers aren't available. I love using my cake stands as an impressive way to display  lemons, limes or oranges.

James Reade's Sunblush Hydrating Tan Mistis one of the cleverest and most flattering products I've tried this year. It's the lightest self tan spray you can spritz on after cleansing and an hour later you look effortlessly radiant. It's Sienna Miller's favourite and the reason behind her glow.

Magnesium body butters are really popular this summer and I can see why.  This one from Neom is really quite brilliant. Quite simply, you apply before bedtime and have a better night's sleep. It's scented with the lightest lavender fragrance and mixed with Shea butter so leaves the skin feeling very silky. It's now going to be constant in my bathroom.

My favourite Flowze sandals are super comfy thanks to their quileted sole and they are offering 10% discount with the code DEBORAH10

I love Lemlem bikinis and this is my style of the summer. The bandeau top is flattering on most bust sizes and the high waisted bottoms are a very forgiving style. I'm obsessed and it feels so much more stylish than a classic triangle bikini.

You know I love a bandana print and this new reversible floppy sun hat from Call It By Your Name was added straight into my cart when I saw it!
