My Ibiza Home: Get the Look

As soon as summer arrives, I spend as much time as I can in my Ibizan home. It's my not so secret retreat and the perfect balm to my city life in London.

I thought I'd share some of my favourite elements of the house with a "Get the Look" for some summer interiors inspo.

My iconic tiled courtyard with its sunken trees is the first thing you see when you enter. When we were converting the house, I had a vision of tiling this huge courtyard with blue and white tiles and it was a labour of love finding them. The tiles are the famous Brazilian Ipanema design and were sourced from Mosaic Factory.

I used star themed tiles to demarcate the dining area off the courtyard and an eye pattern for the outdoor living room.

CHOOSE A COLOUR THEME - My love of blue and white is reflected throughout my home and was also the inspiration for my ceramics range when I began DB Ceramic.

I've used a palette of muted denim hues with cobalt, indigo and seafoamy blues throughout the house as you can see from the courtyard tiles to the cushions and even the pool inflatables which come from a French company called thenicefleet.com.

MIX DIFFERENT PATTERNS AND PRINTS  - I love mixing fabric designs but sticking to a similar palette. My go to are the outdoor fabrics from Osborne and Little and I always use Fermoie who do beautiful outdoor and indoor fabrics which co-ordinate well together.

INCLUDE A MIX OF TEXTURES -  To create a lived-in sun bleached beachy  vibe we used an eclectic mix of finishes and furnishings throughout my home, often using pieces by local artisans using materials like bamboo, straw, stone, leather and rope.

Indoors we combined a mix of furniture like the 60's tiled coffee tables with local rattan chairs and lighting.

Birdie Fortescue has a great new collection of rattan chairs and tables if you are looking for a London stockist.

And Cox & Cox make very good quality outdoor furniture including some fabulous daybeds and sunloungers

USE CERAMICS AS DECORATION - Rather than have my ceramics stored away in cupboards, I've made a feature of them repurpossing this trolley as stylish kitchen shelving. I love the cobalt blue ceramics against the white walls.

INCORPORATE THE ALL SEEING EYE - I've always been a fan of the All Seeing Eye with its striking cerulean design. My flow platters, bowls and pitchers decorated with my hand drawn Ibiza Eye design look so good here and are my go-to when entertaining piled high with salads or used for aperitivo snacks.

DECORATE WITH FRUIT NOT FLOWERS - instead of flowers wilting in the heat, I've started to use fruit or vegetables when creating a summer table for guests.

Deploying one of my cake stands and piling it high with juicy lemons always works. But fresh green artichokes and limes look great too.

And it's always useful having fresh limes on hand for an ice cold margarita as the sun is setting over Es Vedra.

Salud!

I'm in love with this denim skirt from Wiggykit which is made from the softest denim. The wide tie belt cinches you in at the waist and makes this so flattering. I know I'll get masses of wear out of this.

Iliabeauty's new Soft Focus Finishing Powder is a makeup must have for summer. Makes the skin look flawless and is great for taking away any shine. I love everything this brand does and it's all free from parabens and all other nasties.

A flattering white cotton tank is a good staple to have in your summer wardrobe. This one from Cos is hard to beat and looks great with skirts, jeans or even shorts.

These are brand new Bronzing Drops from Rodial and I feel like bulk buying them already. Used over bare skin, they give the skin a really beautiful natural looking glow. But brilliantly they are not sparkly like most bronzing drops so are flattering. They are also packed with skincare ingredients. A winner.

If you haven't already seen the Zubaran exhibition at the National Gallery, I urge you to book tickets. It's on from now until the end of August. From the rind of a lemon to the gaze from a Saint, his intense realism is remarkable to see. The collection is made up of all of his great works including altar pieces and his still life works.
